1. Live A Life Without Regrets

‘I want to quit my job and travel because I don’t want a life of regrets.’

Think of it this way. Very few people regret travel, but many people regret NOT travelling.

In countless surveys with elderly people, their top regret is not pursuing their dreams. And if your dream is traveling, then YOU NEED to make it happen. Can you imagine getting to 88 years old and regret never having traveled for just one year?

When you are old, you won’t be able to jump on a plane and backpack around South America, slumming it in hostels.

Or maybe you will, but I can guarantee that you will have a lot more fun in a shared dorm room as a 28-year-old than as an 88-year-old.

Everyone is given one life on this planet and no one knows when their time is going to end. Maybe fear is holding you back from quitting your job and living your dream of travelling the world?

Then make it an aim to conquer this fear.

Realise that the only person holding you back is YOU.

2. You Can Work Online While You Travel

‘I want to quit my job but what if I run out of money?’

If you are able to walk and talk then chances are you will be able to find work anywhere. Over the years I have worked as a cleaner, a waitress, bartender, property manager, secretary, teacher. There is always a way to make money abroad if you are willing to work hard.

In 2016, I worked out how to make money online while I travel. Becoming a digital nomad is something everyone can do.

There are lots of entry level remote jobs available that will allow you travel WHILE making money. Or you could start a blog and make money from blogging.

I started this blog a little over a year ago and am now making money with it, passive income from adverts and affiliate links. Maybe running a travel blog is the idea for you?

3. You’re going to live until 100

‘I want to quit my job because the pension age has gone up to 70 years old.’

People are living longer than ever now. And this means that we are also having to work longer than ever too. Thirty years ago, we were all expecting to retire aged 60 or 65. Nowadays, if you are part of the millennial generation, it looks like you will be working until you are aged 75.

The time we will spend working for the man has leapt up by about 15 years. Therefore, in the grand scheme of your career, one or two years off to enjoy the world won’t make that much difference.

5. To Have Time To Think

‘I want to quit my job so that I can think’

Perhaps one of the reasons why you are scared to quit your job is because if you quit your job to travel, then you’ll be forced to rexamine yourself.

Maybe you hate your job and want a new career but at the same time, you have NO IDEA where to start planning a new life for yourself. You have no idea what you want to do with your life and that’s TERRIFYING.

Maybe you used to doing what people tell you to do or copying what your friends do.

And somewhere along the way, you lost yourself and now you have no idea what YOU want to do! If you quit your job and travel then you will have all the time in the world to get know yourself and what you want out of life.

Travel can help you discover who you really are. Time spent away from the overwhelming noise of social media, the internet and society will allow you to discover your true tastes and interests.

Spending time alone and away from distractions, you’ll be free. Free to finally learn what you like.

Time spent travelling can also be used as an opportunity to explore different career options. You could volunteer, find an internship or simply just research different careers online in your downtime.
